Cancer SUCKS! Hi, I am Becca Cory the owner & one of the founders of A Cookie! Our A in our name stands for Ayla and A Cookie never hurt anyone! Ayla Powers was my high school / college BESTIE! By the age of 20 she already had two degrees from LBWCC & was attending AU. Ayla going into summer at the age of 19 found out she had germ cell ovarian cancer (it is extremely rare she was only the 5th documented case in the US). It was 9 months, only 9 months from the time she was diagnosed to the time she lost her fight. Ayla didn’t have a mom in her house growing up from around the age of 12. So when she came into my life my sweet momma took her in as her own! They were constantly in the kitchen baking (which I wanted no part of). Cakes, cup cakes, cookies, brownies, brownie in a cup etc. She decided the next degree she wanted was in culinary, she was going to come home and open a small shop for the both of us. She was going sell baked goods & I was going to have a makeup brand in the other half of the business, so we could be together daily! What a dream life that would have been. So fast forward 15 years, I moved home to take care of my mom, needing to find extra income to support us, nothing else made sense but to start a small cottage bakery. To bring Ayla’s dream to life, to be in the kitchen with my mom & my significant other, creating new memories and putting smiles on peoples faces they way Ayla did!
